Gender influence on long-term weight loss after three bariatric procedures: gastric banding is less effective in males in a retrospective analysis

The aim of this study was to find the influence of gender on long-term weight loss after bariatric surgery. A retrospective analysis of data retrieved from a prospectively maintained bariatric database showed that Roux en Y Gastric Bypass is equally effective in both males and females, as is Vertical Banded Gastroplasty.
